CLAIMS PROCESS
The Most Critical Part of Malpractice Insurance
.
Our philosophy is that the entire claims handling process is probably
the MOST CRITICAL part of malpractice insurance.
It affects professional reputations of the individual physician, group, and of DocSecure, as well as having a potential financial consequence for the company and its physician-owner.
TRADITIONAL INSURERS HAVE NO FLEXIBILITY!
They are burdened and weighed down with internal staff providing services on a variety of coverages.
Most not in the select area of malpractice. You won’t get that from DocSecure!
Our efficient business model provides higher quality expertise at reasonable prices and more
responsible service.
DocSecure determines the ongoing effectiveness of each service provider and can replace
them much more easily, without financial or legal consequences.
Many traditional Insurers can’t be flexible and are financially constrained with a large staff
of employees.
In stark contrast to traditional insurers, the overall process is very interactive with
extensive pre-deposition and pre-trial preparation. DocSecure, Coverys, involved
physicians and attorneys are regularly updated and opinions are sought
throughout the entire process.
We also have a consent clause in each policy.
OUR SERVICE ADVANTAGE:
DocSecure has a smaller, more cost effective core of specialists to manage outside experts such as Attorneys, Actuaries and Claims Handlers.

A CLAIM HAS OCCURRED.
NOW WHAT?
We employ an Expert Claims Committee
This typically consists of:
Several peer DocSecure physicians (in the area of practice expertise concerning the case), our selected legal counsel and Ralph Serio, our Executive Administrator.
The committee ultimately chooses lead counsel from our legal panel.
Claims experts from Coverys’ Morristown, NJ office also contribute their expertise.
Action Steps for Claims Process
1. FORMAL CLAIMS PROCESS
Once an ‘incident’ becomes an actual claim, the formal Claims process ensues.
2. DATA GATHERING
Data gathering, sharing, review and communication among the DocSecure Claims Management Committee, Coverys, and the defendant physician.
3. SELECTION OF EXPERTS
Selection of legal counsel, expert reports, deposition prep, and so on. With the physician intimately involved.
RISK MANAGEMENT SUPPORT
...”Our Special House Sauce!”

Ultimately it is...
YOUR PROFESSIONAL LIVELIHOOD... YOUR REPUTATION.
YOUR MONEY.
and YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY!
